OFFICIAL RULES

ELIGIBILITY

FNAME member newspapers must fall into one of these three groups based on ABC or CAC Sunday Circulation for the period ending December 31, 2009.

Group 1: (circulation of 125,001 and over)

Group 2: (circulation of 50,001 to 125,000)

Group 3: (circulation of 50,000 and under)

All entries must be original pieces and have been published in an FNAME member newspaper between June 1, 2009 and May 31.

The competition requires that an electronic tearsheet of the entire newspaper page containing the ad be submitted as a jpeg. The entry form requires a statement of where and when the advertisement first appeared, and must be electronically signed by the entrant. Should a question be raised regarding an entry, the entrant agrees by their electronic signature to submit any documentation deemed necessary by FNAME for review. Inability to provide this documentation will be grounds for disqualification.

AWARDS

• Entries must be original pieces and have been published within the 12 months prior to May 31, 2010

• All foreign language ads must include an English translation

• A non-refundable $12 payment must be submitted with each entry

AWARDS PRESENTATION

The 2010 FNAME Creative Excellence Awards will be presented Friday, September 10.

A Gold FNAME Award will be presented for first place, a Silver Award Certificate for second place, and a Bronze Award Certificate for third place in each category. There will be no ties. The Grand Award will go to the newspaper in each circulation group that achieves the greatest number of points on the following basis:

Gold Awards: 10 points each

Silver Awards: 5 points each

Bronze Awards: 2 points each

FNAME.org reserves the right to change the rules at any time.

2010 CATEGORIES

CATEGORY 1 Display Advertising
Most creative ad featuring such areas as apparel, furniture, appliances, hardware, food and drug, florists or jewelry; submit as a jpeg

CATEGORY 2 Business to Consumer/ Business to Business
Best ad featuring financial, professional or educational services; submit as a jpeg

CATEGORY 3 Automotive/Boating
Best ad featuring automotive or boat dealerships ¬– new or used, repair services, auto aftermarket; submit as jpeg

CATEGORY 4 Real Estate
Best ad featuring real estate developers, homebuilders - single or multi-advertiser; submit as jpeg

CATEGORY 5 Health Care
Best ad featuring health care providers, including hospitals and nursing homes; submit as jpeg

CATEGORY 6 Market Book / Collateral Material
Best market book, research piece, rate card, sales packet and/or other collateral promoting a newspaper or its market; submit a jpeg or a URL for multiple-page submission*

CATEGORY 7 Multiple Participants, Councils, Associations
Best ad featuring a shopping center; submit as jpeg

CATEGORY 8 Special Section
Best in-paper special section with participation by one or more advertisers, regardless of merchandise; provide a URL for multiple-page submission*

CATEGORY 9 Dining & Entertainment
Best ad featuring a restaurant, entertainment, travel or tourism; submit as jpeg

CATEGORY 10 Niche Publication
Best alternative delivery product (editorial or advertorial) featuring a targeted demographic (seniors, health, women’s issues, parenting, etc.); provide a URL for multiple-page submission*

CATEGORY 11 Inserts
Best web-print or press-fed insert designed for a single advertiser, for direct mail or in-paper, regardless of merchandise; provide a URL for multiple-page submission*

CATEGORY 12 Best Color Ad
Best ad featuring spot or full color regardless of category; submit a jpeg

CATEGORY 13 Promotional Ads
Best house ad or ad series promoting the newspaper; may include ads promoting news, circulation, advertising and community relations; submit a jpeg or provide a URL for multiple-page submission*

CATEGORY 14 Best Cover Design
Any special section; submit as jpeg

CATEGORY 15 Best Ad Created Outside the Newspaper
Regardless of merchandise, (includes advertising agencies); submit as jpeg

CATEGORY 16 Out-of-the-Box
Best ad, sales promotion, ad series or section, regardless of category; submit a jpeg or provide a URL for multiple-page submission*

CATEGORY 17 On-Line
Submit your best online ad or ad campaign; provide a URL*

CATEGORY 18 Best Multi-Media Campaign
• Integrated advertising campaign that includes:
Online • Video • Niche Publications • Inserts/Circulars • ROP
• Other Media • Direct Mail Components; provide a URL*

* If you have a multiple-page document or more than one creative per entry, ZIP the files together, upload to a server and enter the URL for viewing and judging. (http://www.papername.com/example.zip)

NOW WHAT?
Toss the X-ACTO and spray mount: This year, FNAME creative entries are going online!

First, register @ fname.org/annualconference.asp; click on the castle, register your company and mail the $20 entry fee. Already registered? Using your User ID and Password, submit your entries between June 18 and July 30.

• Logon with your User ID and Password, then click SUBMISSIONS at the top.

• GROUP
Type in the Group:
Group 1 (circulation of 125,0001 and over)
Group 2 (circulation of 50,001 to 125,000)
Group 3 (circulation of 50,000 and under)

• CATEGORY
Type in the appropriate category;
• Submit up to three (3) creative pieces per category
• Please complete a form for each piece of creative
• All asterisked*sections MUST be completed
• PUBLICATION DATE
Enter the date the ad was first published in the newspaper or, in the case of a Web ad, the date it first appeared online. For print ads, remember to include an image of the entire newspaper page.

• NAME OF ENTRY
Enter the name of the entry or the campaign (OPTIONAL)

• RESULTS
Enter results: what happened because of the campaign/the ad? Did the client score a windfall of customers? Did your subscription numbers climb through the roof? (OPTIONAL)

• SUBMIT YOUR CREATIVE
Upload a jpeg of the entire newspaper page that contains the ad submission or enter a URL for multiple submissions in a single category. (Category 6, 8, 11, 13, 16, 17 & 18)

• SAVE CHANGES
Once your form is completed (for each entry), review for accuracy, save changes and then click submit.

• CONFIRMATION E-MAIL
You will receive an e-mail confirming receipt of each entry you submitted.

• MAIL YOUR CHECK
Each entry is $12. Multiply the number of entries you have submitted and send a check or money order (no credit cards, please) to:
